Open and shut case of lost boy

A 10-YEAR-OLD boy who went missing on Monday was found yesterday morning trapped in the gap between a security roller shutter and elevator door outside a third floor antique shop on Ningxia Road, Putuo District.

The fourth grader, surnamed Huang, was discovered when a worker opened the shutter.

Huang was uninjured and despite being tired went to school, his family said.

The family said Huang was waiting at the crossroads of Ningxia Road and Baiyu Road about 7pm on Monday to be picked up. As it was getting darker, Huang, who didn’t carry a cellphone, went into the building to find if there was anyone inside.

He took the elevator to the third floor where he got off.

However, he found the roller door in front of him was locked and was then unable to reach the button for the elevator.

Despite his shouts for help, he had to spend the night on the floor in a space 1 meter in length by 50 centimeters in width. There was no surveillance camera in the lift. The shutter had been installed to prevent theft.
