Paint thrown on ferry conductor
A MOPED rider was fined 200 yuan (US$32.48) for throwing paint in the face of a ticket collector who refused to let him on a ferry for safety concerns.
This is the first fine involving a ferry disturbance since the city increased transport security following arson attacks on buses in China this summer.
The moped rider was about to board the ferry across the Huangpu River from Xiepu Road Dock in the Pudong New Area on Friday evening when he was stopped by a ticket collector.
The collector, who is also responsible for security checks, spotted that the passenger was carrying a container of paint, which is among flammable materials banned from the ferry.
During an argument, the moped rider opened the container, scooped up some paint and threw it at the ticket collector. The collector was hit on the face and uniform by the paint.
Police fined the moped rider for disturbing public order.
