Partial solar eclipse seen in Shanghai
SOME people thought they might miss the partial solar eclipse yesterday, as it seemed to be a no-show, but then it appeared.
The astronomical phenomenon moved across the Shanghai sky between 8:41am and 10:10am yesterday, which was predicted to be a rainy and cloudy day. There was no rain, but the cloud was thick.
“I decided to give up on the eclipse at first as the clouds were too thick when I got up,” a student surnamed Fang told Shanghai Daily.
“But when I saw the first ray of sunshine pass through the classroom window, I ran out side to watch it.”
The chairman of a local astronomical society, Wang Xiaoyu, said: “Everyone was praying for a gap in the clouds. The eclipse was only small, but much better than I expected.”
