SHANGHAI Patent Week started yesterday with more than 800 patented technologies and products displayed. Eight companies received loans of 21 million yuan (US$3.16 million) from banks by using their patents as collateral.
Officials of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration said this new type of loan, which allows patents to be used as collateral, encourages innovation.
