Patient ‘punches’ doctor in the face

A man who allegedly assaulted a doctor at Jing’an District Central Hospital on Friday night when receiving treatment has been detained by police.

The 36-year-old patient, surnamed Cao, is believed to have been drinking before going to the hospital around 10:30pm to have a cut treated.

Cao allegedly punched the doctor, surnamed Yin, in the face during treatment, causing injuries to his eyes and face. He needed seven stitches.

They did not know each other before the incident.

Cao was detained by Jiangning Road Police at 11pm.
