Pedestrian killed by falling cement board when taking shelter from rain at shopping mall

A man was killd by a falling cement board at a shopping mall this afternoon.

The man, surnamed Yu, 52, and another man surnamed Kuang, 48, were hit by the cement board falling from the exterior wall when they were taking shelter from the heavy rain in front of a shopping mall on Zhenbei Road, Putuo District about 4:30pm, xinmin.cn reported.

Both of them were rushed to Putuo District Central Hospital.

Yu was pronounced dead in hospital later, while Kuang is in critical condition and is undergoing treatment.
