Police catch errant truck drivers

FOUR truck drivers were fined yesterday for overloading vehicles or driving dangerous chemicals at times they were not permitted to do so, Shanghai traffic police said.
The police have been cracking down on such traffic offenses since the end of the Spring Festival to ensure road safety in the city as traffic surges after the holiday. Police added they had fined 1,333 truck drivers for various offenses this year.
The drivers of trucks loaded with dangerous chemicals yesterday were fined 200 yuan (US$29) with three demerits on their licenses after being caught at a road block by Yangpu Bridge.
