THE volume of pork traded in Shanghai nosedived last week after the swine flu reports. The volume at the city's wholesale markets was down more than 50 percent last week.
The food market on Yuyao Road was selling pork at 22 yuan (US$3.21) a kilogram on Monday, lower than the wholesale price, to encourage sales.
The wholesale price for pork last Friday was 25.98 yuan per kilogram. It dropped to 25.70 yuan the next day and 25.60 yuan on Monday.
