Power failure disrupts Metro service in morning rush hour

A power failure suspended service of metro line 3 and 4 during rush hour this morning, affecting tens of thousands of commuters at metro stations. By 9:40am, the service has been resumed.

The breakdown occurred at 8:30am today. Metro Line 3 and 4 between Shanghai Railway Station and Zhongshan Park Station were affected.

Passengers are queening for ticket refund at some stations.

An initial investigation said some unknown objects fell into the line control system and caused the short circuit, according to the metro operator.
