Power glitch hits Metro Line 9 during morning rush hour

A power glitch hit Metro Line 9 this morning, interrupting the line’s operation from suburban Songjiang District to downtown and causing congestions in several stations along the line.

The glitch has been fixed around noon time, Metro operator said.

It announced at about 8:10am that trains can only run at a limited speed between Songjiang South Railway Station and Zhongchun Road due to the glitch. The interval between two trains was also prolonged.

Shuttle buses have been dispatched to ferry passengers from four Metro stations — Songjiang South Railway Station, Songjiang Sports Center, Songjiang Xincheng and Sheshan stations—to Zhongchun Road station.

A total of 70 shuttle buses were prepared on site, the city’s transportation commission said.

The section between Shanghai Songjiang University Town to Shenshan Metro stations are partly closed, which allow exits only, and the affected station later expanded to Jiuting Station.

The Metro operator said the glitch happened on the power cables between Songjiang University Town to Sheshan stations at about 8am.
