Problems on 3 lines delay commuters

COMMUTERS faced delays going to work yesterday morning, due to problems on three Metro lines.

A train broke down on Metro Line 2, affecting the main section in Pudong New Area, while there were minor problems on Line 1 and Line 8, said Metro officials.

Services between Century Park and Lujiazui on Line 2 were delayed from 7:10am for around 30 minutes.

This affected passenger flow elsewhere, with major stations like People’s Square, Jing’an Temple and Loushanguan Road limiting numbers on platforms.

Operations returned to normal after 8:40pm.

People’s Square faced additional headaches when power supply problems affected Line 1 services there. Disruptions began at around 7am and lasted half an hour.

And there were slight delays on Line 8, between Siping Road and Middle Yanji Road, at around 7:10am due to a train door malfunctioning.

The knock-on effect of these problems on the city’s busiest three Metro lines led to lines 3, 6 and 8 limiting passenger flow in some sections.
