Prosecutors begin probe into senior steel official

SHANGHAI prosecutors have begun an investigation into Cui Jian, the former deputy general manager of Baosteel Group Corp, for alleged bribe taking, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate said yesterday.

Cui has been placed under compulsory measures, the SPP said, without giving details. Baosteel is China’s leading steelmaker and one of the city’s largest state-owned enterprises.
