Pudong fire kills 2, injures 1

Two people were killed and one other was injured when a fire engulfed a rented apartment in the Pudong New Area early this morning, Shanghai-based website xinmin.cn reported.

The fire reportedly broke out around 1am in Gaodong Town. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 40 minutes, according to the report.

Two tenants were reportedly killed in the blaze while another sustained a fractured heel.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, the report said.
