Punishment for ear slap assault

A MALAYSIAN man was sentenced to one year in prison, with probation of one year, for perforating the eardrum of a female colleague by repeatedly slapping her after a business talk with the client.
The Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People's Court decided on probation because Chua Cher How, 35, surrendered to police and the victim was slightly injured. The victim, Lu Na, was unsatisfied with the verdict. She said she would ask prosecutors to appeal and would file a civil lawsuit to seek compensation.
