Push for ban

A RECENT poll found a good many Shanghai citizens were in favor of a ban on fireworks during the Spring Festival due to air quality fears, the Shanghai Statistics Bureau said yesterday. In a telephone survey of 1,078 people, 85.6 percent said they would not buy fireworks during the festival. About 81.1 percent supported the idea of banning fireworks in the city throughout the year.
