A deliveryman is facing a rape charge after allegedly drugging a local businesswoman and having his way with her, prosecutors in Minhang District said yesterday. The married man, surnamed Xiang, whose amorous advances had been rejected by the woman, surnamed Meng, an online store owner, allegedly rendered her unconscious by putting sleeping powder into a glass of water she drank when he visited her apartment to deliver a package, prosecutors claimed. He later confessed to the rape. Meng reported the incident to police and Xiang was taken into custody.
