Rented BMW cars sold in city
POLICE are looking for two men who rented luxury cars from Hubei and Zhejiang provinces and drove them to Shanghai where they sold them.
One of the men registered himself as Jiang Chao and rented a BMW 5 Series from Wuhan, while the other called himself Xu Shugen and took another BMW model from Yiwu city.
Their real identities have not been confirmed yet, nor is it certain that the two of them are members of the same car-stealing gang, police said.
The manager of Yizhixin Automobile Service, a company in Minhang District where the two cars were found, said he was not aware of any plot or gang, police told Shanghai Daily.
The owner of the car rental company in Wuhan, a man surnamed Wei, told Shanghai Morning Post that they managed to track down the car, which was rented by Jiang on June 13, through GPS.
Wei said the owner of the car contacted his company the next day and said he had lost touch with all of the four GPS devices.
