Retirees ‘reselling drugs’
FOUR retirees who fraudulently obtained and resold medication worth more than 830,000 yuan (US$120,000) were yesterday sentenced to three years for fraud, with a three-year reprieve, Jing’an District People’s Court said.
The four, with an average age of just over 61, took advantage of public health insurance that allocates an annual quota for drugs and allows those who use up their quotas to buy medicine from hospitals at a subsidized price, the court said. They made an average profit of 20 yuan per box.
