River changing color each month
A STRETCH of river in southern Fengxian District changes color every month due to pollution from a nearby dyeing mill, locals claim.
Local residents say the 200-meter stretch of the Huibei River is polluted by a printing and dyeing mill upstream that has been illegally discharging waste that changes the water color. A dam was created upstream in June after complaints from local residents, but the river still turned red yesterday. Authorities are investigating.
