Robbery attempt flops badly

WRONG place, wrong time.
A thief who broke into an apartment in downtown Jing’an District early yesterday was subdued by a former police officer who happened to be present.
The suspect, a man surnamed Zheng, has been detained, police said.
Zheng, who is not from Shanghai, followed a delivery guy into a residential building in the Top of City Garden on Weihai Road. He forced himself into the apartment and threatened the people living in the flat with a fruit knife and demanded money.
A 68-year-old retired police officer, surnamed Qian, grappled with Zheng and overpowered him and alerted the guards, police said.
Qian took a slight cut in his hand with the knife.
