Rule violations to be kept on personal credit records
PEOPLE who violate regulations regarding group renting, illegal construction or parking will have the offenses noted on their personal credit records, the Shanghai Housing Management Bureau has said.
Such records are consulted during the vetting process for people applying for low-cost housing and other government services, it said.
A black mark could also hamper a person’s chances of landing a job as a public servant, securing a residence permit or borrowing money from a bank, it said.
People living in Shanghai can access their credit records via a government database at www.shcredit.gov.cn, which was set up on April 30.
