S. Korean skin creme rejected
THREE batches of imported Laneige skin care products have been destroyed at Shanghai port for containing a bacterium, while over 49,900 kilograms of oatmeal imported from Hahne in Germany were returned for excessive mould, Shanghai’s entry and exit authorities said.
The 703 kilograms of Laneige white plus renew emulsion and skin mist were made by South Korea’s skin-care and makeup giant AmorePacific Group and they were destroyed in January, according to the Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.
They were imported from South Korea and were found to have staphylococcus aureus, according to the bureau. Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterium which is a common cause of skin infections such as a skin abscess, respiratory infections such as sinusitis, and food poisoning.
A total of 49,920 kilograms of fruit breakfast oatmeal made by C. Hahne Muehlenwerke Gmbh & Co and imported from Germany were returned after they were found to have excessive mould, the bureau said.
The oatmeal was imported by Changzhou Dahua Import and Export (Group) Co in January.
The bureau also returned two batches of Thalgo bath powder totaling 2,675 kilograms and imported from France for excessive arsenic. They were imported by Shanghai Siyanli Co.
These products were among the 73 batches of imported biscuits, beverage, oatmeal, milk, cheese, coffee beans, soap and cosmetics returned or destroyed by the bureau in January for various violations.
