Sailors sue captain who abandoned ship
EIGHT sailors abandoned by their boat's captain and owner after it was caught up in a fishing net are suing them for eight months' wages. The case will be heard by the Shanghai Maritime Court.
The Yongxing 803 freighter was taking goods from Qingdao in Shandong Province to Jiaojiang in Zhejiang Province on November 1 last year, when the boat became tangled up in a net. The captain went ashore to get help but never returned. The owner also abandoned the crew. The sailors were rescued a week later.
