School injury payout

A school has been ordered to pay a sixth-grader who sustained a serious fracture when he was kicked by a schoolmate during a soccer game nearly 70,000 yuan (US$10,712) in compensation, the Qingpu District People’s Court said yesterday.

The court ruled that the school was negligent, citing the fact that the game was not properly monitored and safety measures were not taken to protect players.
