School security guard held over molestation case

A 47-year-old kindergarten security guard has been detained by police on suspicion he molested three girls aged between five and six years old in Shanghai’s Yangpu District, officers said today.
One mother, surnamed Zhang, said her daughter told her she was molested after she and her two friends left to buy some ice cream.
"The ice cream store is not far from us but the girls were gone for more than 10," Zhang told the police. "This made us suspicious. We went looking for them and we then saw them come out from a kindergarten."
At home, the girl told her mother that a man in the kindergarten touched their private parts and then let them play on a slide.
“She said the man lured them to a room and took their pants off. His touch caused great pain to my daughter," police cited Zhang as saying.
Another mother, surnamed Yao, said her daughter has had nightmares and often cries at night since being molested.
According to the kindergarten, the man worked the night shift on weekdays and on weekends.
District education authorities said the man is a temporary worker and not an official employee.
The victims are children of migrant parents who either own small clothing stores or sell bean products.
