Sea shells with a difference
AN engineering ship working off the east coast of Shanghai’s Hengsha Island discovered an iron box containing 16 anti-aircraft cannon shells, police said yesterday. The shells are thought to date back to World War II and are among about 1,200 to have been found in waters close to the island since a frontier station opened there in 1998. Crowds gathered to watch as the shells were loaded onto the dock.
