Security checks tightened at city’s airports

PASSENGERS at Shanghai’s two airports will be subjected to tougher safety checks from May 13 to 16, the airport authority announced today.

The airport authority advised passengers to arrive early at the Hongqiao and Pudong international airports to give themselves enough time to go through the strengthened security checks.

Meanwhile, the luggage storage services at both airports were suspended through Tuesday, but passengers can still pick up the luggage they've already stored there, the authority said.

Passengers taking trains to Beijing from Shanghai have been subjected to strengthened security measures at the city’s railway terminals.
