Senior official investigated

THE vice president of Baosteel Group Corp is being investigated on suspicion of serious violations of the law and discipline, Shanghai’s Party discipline inspection commission said yesterday.
The probe into Cui Jian, 55, was announced following a two-month inspection of the steelmaker by a team from the Party’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Cui was appointed vice president of the steel giant last April. He was earlier assistant to the group’s president, director of the Baosteel Research Institute, vice president of Baoshan Iron & Steel, deputy manager of Baosteel Stainless Steel and president of Ningbo Iron & Steel Co.
