Shanghai departments cut costs
SHANGHAI government departments have been publishing their budgets for this year in a bid to boost transparency in their use of taxpayers' money.
Of 43 so far that have declared their budgets, 22 have cut them compared to last year, 15 others plan to keep spending at about the same level and the others plan to spend slightly more.
The Administration of Work Safety is making the biggest cut with a 29 percent reduction in spending compared to last year, which includes a 48 percent reduction in the money spent on cars.
