Shanghai pays best to white-collar
THE average monthly salary of white-collar workers in Shanghai was the highest in the first quarter in China’s mainland at 6,774 yuan (US$1083.84), recruitment portal zhaopin.com said yesterday.
Beijing was second with 6,688 yuan, marginally edging Shenzhen at 6,682 yuan, the website said in a report.
In Shanghai, positions in financial trusts and auction industries were the best paid with average monthly salary of 10,284 yuan, followed by professions such as accountants and lawyers who earned around 8,910 yuan.
The report said the high salaries in trust and auction-related fields benefited from the expansion of financial services industries in Shanghai, while competition remained the toughest in manufacturing industries.
Nationally, average salary for internet and e-commerce positions was the highest at 8,626 yuan.
Intermediary services and professional services followed with 7,604 yuan and 7,272 yuan respectively.
Public-listed companies were the most generous employers, while government-backed organizations and private companies usually paid the lowest salaries, the report found.
Sales, administrative staff, sales management, and accounting were the four most sought-after talent in China.
Zhaopin.com is China’s second largest online recruitment platform in terms of revenue, and the website claims that it has 3.5 million jobs opening for application every day.
