Shanghai projects win awards
SHANGHAI projects won 42 of the 303 prizes handed out at the National Science and Technology Awards in Beijing yesterday.
Most were in the fields of medicine and health. They included research into myelogenous leukemia by experts at Ruijin Hospital, Zhongshan Hospital’s work on a comprehensive treatment for colorectal cancer and Huashan Hospital’s use of imaging technology in diseases of the central nervous system.
Shanghai Science and Technology Commission said it was the 14th consecutive year that more than 10 percent of the awards had come to the city.
Other winners were in fields that included transport, information technology and space technology. In projects related to the military and national security, Shanghai took six awards.
