Shanghai tourist kidnapped in Malaysia

A Shanghai tourist and a Philippine hotel employee were kidnapped by a gang of armed Philippine rebels in a Malaysia hotel last night.
The incident occurred at 10:30pm when a group of armed men took the two women from a hotel at Singamata Reef Resort, in the Malaysian state of Sabah, and then fled the scene by boat,, Xinmin Evening News reported.
Chinese consulate general in Kuching confirmed the kidnap case this morning.
The kidnapped Shanghai woman was believed on an individual tour to Sabah as the city's tourism authority has not received any reports from travel agencies, the report said.
The case is under investigation.
