Ship calls city home

AIDABELLA, a luxury cruise ship owned by a German cruise company, will make Shanghai its home port from April 16 through next year, its operator announced yesterday. It can accommodate more than 2,500 passengers and will be the first German cruise ship to make the city its home port year round. The ship has eight on-board restaurants where high-end European and Asian cuisines will be served. Children will have a dedicated area with a pool and separate sundeck.
Shanghai received 2.2 million cruise passengers last year, a rise of 34 percent over 2014.
