Shopkeeper in jail for attacking inspectors
A woman shopkeeper who sold salt of a fake brand and attacked inspectors for giving her penalty was sentenced to six months in prison, the Baoshan District People's Court said today.
Prosecutors said the woman surnamed Zhu sold iodized salt of a counterfeit brand in her shop on Guangnan Road and her fraud was discovered by four market inspectors last October.
Zhu refused to admit her guilt after learning that the fake salt would be confiscated and she would face administrative punishment. Instead, she rejected them as fake inspectors, the court heard.
The inspectors asked Zhu to call the police to check their identities but the woman refused.
Prosecutors said Zhu hurt an inspector by biting his hand and tearing off his uniform. She also used a wooden stick to chase after the inspectors until police came.
