SHUTTLE buses will be run from 14 Metro stations on Lines 2, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 16 to ferry tomb sweepers to 19 cemeteries around the city over the next two weekends.
The Qingming Festival falls on April 5 and the tomb sweeping period will last from Saturday through April 6. An expected 8.5 million people are expected to hit the city’s roads to visit the tombs of their relatives, officials said. The shuttle buses will operate on Saturday and Sunday, April 4, 5 and 6 from about 7am to 3pm, with buses leaving every 20 minutes.
