Sick baby abandoned in hospital restroom

A THREE-MONTH-OLD boy was found abandoned in a women's restroom in Renji Hospital yesterday, Shanghai Morning Post reported today.

The infant, who was thought to have a congenital illness, was sent to Shanghai Children's Medical Center for care, police said.

A cleaner found the boy at 10:45am yesterday. The baby looked very weak and there were some clothes and milk powder beside him, a witness said.

A woman with the baby entered the restroom at around 10:30am but she walked out without the boy, according to surveillance video.

Police are investigating. The baby is undergoing examination and details of his illness were not released.
