Six arrested for making forged tickets
SIX suspects have been arrested for printing and selling fake concert and sports tickets in Shanghai, police said.
The gang has allegedly operated since March 2015 and duped people into buying fake tickets at more than 20 events, including concerts by Jacky Cheung, Jay Chow, Rene Liu and Sodagreen, talk shows with Guo Degang, and NBA games held in Shanghai.
Investigation started after police in Pudong arrested seven scalpers who sold fake tickets outside Jacky Cheung’s concert last month and discovered that all of the illegal tickets were acquired from a person surnamed Ye, who was based in Nanjing.
The fake tickets were allegedly printed at an advertising company in Nanjing, and one of the suspects, a man surnamed Wan, was an employee of the company.
The other suspects included Ye’s girlfriend, a woman surnamed Yuan, and Yuan’s nephew, who was described as a middleman between the couple and Wan.
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday in a police raid.
More than 1,500 half-prepared fake tickets were found, alongside computers and printing devices related to the illegal business operation, police said.
