Six teens jailed for robberies

SIX juveniles who belonged to a violent gang have been jailed for between three years and three years and four months for robbery.

Prosecutors in Luwan District said they were members of an Internet-based "Dragon Society" which had recruited more than 160 teenagers to carry out robberies and cause fights since June 2008.

Police began investigating the group after an attack on January 7, Oriental Morning Post reported today.

The investigation showed gang members were involved in several robberies and group fights. Some minors had already been penalized, the report said.

The 169 gang members were about 16 or 17 years old. The ringleader, identified as Wang Sheng, had served time in prison for robbing mobile phones.
