鈥楽mash glass here鈥 notices for buses
NOTICES are being fixed to the windows of city buses telling passengers where to strike the glass with hammers in the case of an emergency.
Shanghai buses are usually equipped with between three to eight hammers for passengers to break windows should doors be obstructed. However, many passengers have admitted that they are uncertain where they should hit the glass to ensure it shatters. The Shanghai Transport Commission said the city’s 16,000 buses will have the signs next month. Safety measures are being reviewed following a series of arson attacks on China’s buses recently.
