A PASSENGER was fined 500 yuan (US$82.57) for smoking in a high-speed train from Beijing to Shanghai on Sunday, the first such punishment meted out by railway police since the start of Spring Festival rush. The man was found smoking on train D311, causing the train to travel at a limited speed. Police said his behavior endangered railway safety.
