Snake man detained
THE owner of a pet shop has been sentenced to serve six months in detention for having a python in his store, the Pudong New Area People’s Court said yesterday.
The 43-year-old man, surnamed Yang, said he got the snake from a customer who wanted to swap it for a lizard. The python regius, however, is classed as endangered and cannot be traded in China. It was spotted by law enforcement officers during an inspection of the store in February.
