CHENTA Road Bridge across the Huangpu River in Songjiang District will be open to traffic by the end of the year, officials from the city’s Highway Investment Co said yesterday.
The bridge will make it more convenient for residents from Songjiang and Qingpu districts to travel to Jinshan and southern Pudong, and boost the economy of the city’s southern rural districts, it said.
Work is underway to pave the road surface and install lighting.
The new road bridge, spanning 546 meters over a part of the Huangpu River known locally as Hengliaojing, will be the fifth link between Songjiang with the other side of the city after the G1501 expressway, G15 expressway, Songwei highway and Songpu Bridge.
