CITY authorities warned 197 premises and fined 23 premises and 10 individuals a total of 67,000 yuan (US$8,171) for breaking smoking control laws in the first half of this year, said the Shanghai Health and Family Planning Commission. Premises covered by city smoking control laws must tell smokers that they can’t smoke there, said officials. Individuals face fines if they ignore requests to put out their cigarettes.
