Student dies on campus

A sophomore student at the School of Economics and Management of Tongji University died on Monday morning before a scheduled military exercise, the university said in a statement yesterday.
All sophomore students at the school were gathering for the morning roll call around 6:40am at the sports ground on the university’s campus on Siping Road before breakfast, when the male student fell to the ground, according to the statement.
An ambulance was called and the student was taken to Xinhua Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:07pm, said the statement.
News website xinmin.com said the student from Anhui Province, surnamed Cao, had been staying up late in recent days, but he was not known to have any significant health problems.
