Sturgeon back in the swim
A CHINESE sturgeon that was badly injured after being caught in a fishing net on Saturday is showing signs of recovery after being cared for at a protection center in Jiading District.
“The fish had been lying very still at the bottom of its saline pool but began swimming a little this morning,” a worker at the Shanghai Yangtze Estuary Nature Reserve for the Chinese Sturgeon told Shanghai Daily yesterday. Despite the encouraging signs, the 308-kilogram, 3.45-meter-long female remains in a “serious condition,” the worker said.
