Sun shines on summit, but rain not far away
ANOTHER hot day is on the cards today, with the mercury set to soar to 28 degrees Celsius, forecasters said.
Sunshine greeted the delegates to the Shanghai Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, which got under way yesterday, as temperatures fluctuated between 18 and 27 degrees.
Despite today’s sunny start, clouds are expected later and are set to remain for the rest of the week.
The highs for Thursday to Saturday will be about 25 degrees, with the lows ranging from 17 to 19 degrees.
Despite the recent sunny spell, summer has yet to officially get under way.
“Summer starts when the temperature is above 22 degrees for five straight days,” forecaster Zhang Ruiyi said.
As well as the sunshine, more rain is on the cards.
The Xujiahui weather station in the city’s downtown recorded 13 rainy days in the second half of last month, with 70 percent more precipitation than the average for the time of year.
