Swindler jailed for over 2 years

A SWINDLER who posted sex service ads online and cheated people over 89,000 yuan (US$14,534) was sentenced to two and a half years in prison yesterday.
Three other suspects are still on the run, the Jinshan District People’s Procuratorate said yesterday.
A man told Jinshan police that he was cheated by the people behind a massage website that offered him sex services on July 2 last year.
He clicked a sex service pop-up while surfing the Internet and dialed the number on the page.
A woman on the other side asked him to pay 200 yuan in advance. He then paid an additional 3,000 yuan to a so-called security manager via a bank transfer.
When the company called him again and demanded a third payment of 5,000 yuan, he reported the matter to the police.
Police traced the suspect from the website and phone number the victim had provided them and checked the surveillance video of the withdrawal.
They cooperated with the police in Shenzhen City in Guangdong Province and apprehended the suspect there three weeks later.
