Teen held for death of roommate

A 15-YEAR-OLD student has been detained for allegedly killing his roommate yesterday after an argument.

The suspect, a boy surnamed Fang, is said to have grabbed 16-year-old Liu by the neck. Police however said the cause of the death was still unknown.

The fight took place in their dorm. The two had previously argued in the school canteen, police said.

Liu was rushed to the hospital but did not make it.

The Songjiang Branch of Shanghai General Hospital, where Liu was taken to, told Shanghai Daily that the boy showed no signs of life when he was brought in.

The boys are both students of a local branch of the Shaolin Wushu (martial arts) School in Beijing.

It has over 1,700 students from as young as 4 years old.

Under China’s criminal law, youngsters between 14 and 16 years old have to take full responsibilities for crimes including murder.
