Teenage schoolgirl apologizes for bullying act on another girl

A TEENAGE girl, who attracted wide criticism for forcing another girl student to kneel down with her mouth stuffed with a cucumber, apologized to the victim yesterday after the pictures of her behavior began circulating.
The girl, whose name was not revealed, was an underage student at Shanghai Trade School.
She was punished by the school and went great mental agony, school authorities said.
In her apology letter, the teenager said she had frequent conflicts with the victim, who was a student of another school, which led to a fight over the weekend.
One of the pictures showed her grabbing the hair of the victim who was kneeling down and another showed the victim had a cucumber in her mouth.
The girl uploaded the pictures on her microblog, sparking a heated debate online with many criticizing her behavior.
The girl later deleted the pictures after some netizens recognized her school by the uniform.
The girl said in her apology that she thought she could handle the conflicts on her own, but did so in the wrong way. She said she regretted after being panned by the comments.
School authorities said the fight happened outside the campus and the student had been punished. The school said it has asked a psychologist to provide counseling to the girl.
