Test confirms identity of hospital girl Alimu’s mother
A MATERNITY test result yesterday confirmed that a woman from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is the mother of a little girl known as Alimu — who had been left in Shanghai Children’s Hospital for two and a half years, hospital authorities told Shanghai Daily.
Police and the hospital will contact the Shanghai office of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region government to inform the girl’s family of the news, as they only speak the Uygur language, and wait for them to take the girl back home, said officials at the hospital. A funeral is also expected for Alimu’s twin sister, whose body has been kept in the hospital. As Shanghai Daily reported earlier, Alimu is the survivor of premature twins born in Putuo District. They were transferred to the children’s hospital immediately after birth, but her sister died of a serious infection, while her mother disappeared. Her grandfather and mother were found late last month.
